Sony Vegas 11 and transitions problem

I add the transitions like I'm supposed to, but I don't see any transitions in my work when I place them in between two separate clips. Sometimes it'll work and sometimes it won't. What gives? Any help would be appreciated.

You can only add transitions where there is a crossfade. Right click the crossfade for transition options.
