  1. any good free software that would let me change the aspect ratio for short 2 minutes mp4 videos from 16:9 to 9:16?

  3. no, youtube shorts deosnt accept videos with 16:9 aspect ratio, they have to 9:16

    You can pillar box top and bottom to satisfy the A/R,
    then you're left with a small image in the midde

    Dave, minor point, that's "letterboxing". The VDub filter uses that term too.

    @Muddy7, if you're familiar with VDub, use the Crop filter to crop the sides in (the more cropping, the "bigger" your video content will be). Crop to even numbers.

    Then, use the Resize filter to add top and bottom (letterbox) borders:

    If you don't want to crop at all, just go straight for the Resize filter as shown.

  8. You might find the header editor in mkvtoolnix could work for you
    Drop the file on the header editor and open the video section
    ook for display width/height change to 9 and 16 respectively then under headitor editor click save.
    (This will edit/save to the file you droped on) - its just as easy to change back or use another setting.

    If that doesnt work for their site (I've never used it) then they are using the pixel aspect not the display aspect.
    In that case the only option is crop as above or re-encode - I'd recommend ffmpeg command line for simplicity.
