  1. Hi all,

I recently downloaded something, when I unrarred the archive I was left with 4 files

    video.idx
    video.ifo
    video.avi
    video.sub

Obviously the .avi file is the actual video, but what's all the other stuff? I've tried to find things about them, but i've had no luck, what can I do with them? Any help/links would be greatly appreciated.

If you have no clue what you are downloading, why do you download it?
If you have no use for that files, just delete 'em.
    btw, that are subtitles.

  3. Sorry, I didn't explain myself too well

I do know how to watch an avi file, I just wondered what the extra stuff was. Are all of the extra files for subtitles, or jsut the .sub file?

These subtitles are created by vobsub. If you want to convert the avi to MPEG, you need the vobsub filter for VirtualDub or Avisynth and you will need the .ifo and the .idx to configure the filter.
