Hello,
I recently upgraded my in car dvd player to a pioneer avh 6300bt. The reason was because i was tired of having to change disks and wanted to play movies and videos via a usb thumb drive. I am trying to convert one of my dvds to an avi or divx so that my unit can read the file but am having some difficulties.
I have tried using dvdfab 8 dvd ripper(bought and paid for) various other trial version software to convert the dvd. When ripping, I use the generic.divx.audiocopy option. I am successfully able to play the new avi (after dvd conversion) on my computer but the car unit says "unplayable file"
I have looked into the specs of the unit and it just says "supports .divx and .avi". So I feel like i am missing a step in the conversion process. any help or advice would be great.
Thanks in advance.
resolution:
I figured out what the problem was. It was actually the USB drive. Windows 7 cannot format a thumb drive greater than 32Gb in the fat32 format. The unit in question can only support fat32 or fat16. once reformated divx avis will work.
p.s. I know it can play videos from usb because after installation, i had the guy at the store plug in a usb thumb drive of his own with an avi on it and it played the movie fine. My thumb drive is a 65gb one as well (not sure if that would be the issue)

Run your videos through MediaInfo, in Tree View, and see if anything in those details conflicts with the issues in this post: Common DivX DVD Players AVI Playback problems!

Alternately, you can copy the text from MediaInfo's analysis of the video and paste it here; someone might be able to notice what your player doesn't like about the video(s).If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
