  1. Hello,

I'm trying to capture a DVD with a Stand Alone DVD-Player through HDMI using Virtual Dub.
    I have this card http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002MRROO4/ref=oss_product
Just because it is a very buggy DVD which I can only transfer properly by transfering it directly. (ripping with for example dvddecrypter not possible)

I followed Cauptain's guide in this thread https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/333860-So-how-do-I-use-VirtualDub-to-capture-from-t...-AverTV-HD-DVR but it didn't work out.

All I'm getting is a black screen. I also think that Virtual Dub is maybe the wrong capture tool since I wanted to capture and save in MPEG2, but at least I want to capture it at all and that's not working. I'm not getting any signal although the HDMI output of the standalone DVD Player is activated properly.

    all help is appreciated

    thanks

    -Gwar

And if you use the included application to view the HDMI input, what then?

The included application shows an image but doesn't allow me to record it.

Driver version? And I don't remember whether Caputain's guide in that thread notes that you need to have the AVer software open when you're capturing with other programs.

Also make sure that the capture/preview pins are set for PAL if that's what you're capturing.

Unless you're trying to somehow "upscale" the DVD using the HDMI output, you can try installing DVDFabHD Decrypter to copy your DVD to the hard drive and if necessary use DVDShrink. DVDFabHD Decrypter is free and will work on a DVD or a HD/Bluray disk.

Isn't that how the HDMI spec requires it to work? Try analog component.
