Hi, i've just bought a Flip Mino HD M3160 camcorder.
I took a series of clips and wanted to stitch them seemlessly together. I have Avidemux 2.5 and this has ALWAYS worked for H264 files off my Sony Bloggie and Sanyo Exacti GH3 camcorders, so i though i'd try it with my new Mino HD.
To my surprise, when i watch the stitched output, it seems to play fine, however when it gets to the point at where the "stitch" is the video sticks and moving blocks start appearing at the top of the screen (although the sound carries on into the next stitched scene okay).
I always use the following settings and they work for all other H264 HD (AVC, AAC) files that my other cameras produce, both at 1080p and 720p, like this Mino HD is:
So, just a couple of questions:
1) What could i be doing wrong?, i've tried all the settings i can think of but i'm at a loss to know why Avidemux works on my other AVCHD camcorders, but not the Mino HD.
2) Is there any other free programs out there which will simply stitch HD files together ?. I have googled and googled, but never seem to be able to find any that work. I've tried Avidemux, Intelli-Studio, Media Impression, ProShow Gold, DVD Movie Factory and Yamb. None work for simple seemless stitching.
I love the quality of the Mino HD, it's just SUCH a shame i cannot stitch the files together at make a seemless .mp4 HD file !
Regards,
Andrew

Assuming your files are either .mov or .mp4, you should be able to stitch or edit the clips losslessly with MpegStreamClip. Make sure you have the latest QuickTime Alternative installed and you're in business.

Hi racer-x.
Just tried that but exactly the same problems. It seems to play, but as soon as there's a change of scene (where 2 clips have been joined) the sound continues, but the video sticks and has blocks of squares dancing around the top of the screen both on my PC and on my TV (which is AVCHD enabled, USB input).
I think the fault is with the files this Mino HD outputs ??
From using TheKMP, this is what format it says a single Mino HD file is:
Just to add, both MPEGStreamer and AviDemux work on my Sony Bloggie (AVCHD 264) and Sanyo Xacti G3 (again AVCHD 264). Yet it seems to do something weird with the Mino HD !
I don't really want to have to re-encolde the files before stitching them together as that takes ages, i just want a simple program to stitch them together without any fancy fades etc.
The MinoHD does come with FlipShare software, which DOES combine them perfectly well, but there are 2 major problems with this software:
a) It takes 20 minutes to stitch a series of clips which are only 2 minutes in total !
b) It ALWAYS crossfades between scenes, and i don't want any crossfading. Flip confirm that the software has no option in the settings to disable the crossfading (which seems daft!)
Best Regards,

That's strange is the framerate 60p or 50p by any chance? That might explain it. MpegStreamClip works perfectly for cutting / joining my Canon t2i (DSLR) and my Kodak Zx5 PlaySport Clips when shooting 30p or 24p, but it fails when shooting 60p.

Hi racer-x,
Yeah the frame rate on the Mino HD is definitely 50fps, there are no options to change anything at all on the Mino HD.
The odd thing is that Avidemux and MPEGStreamClip both work on my Sony Bloggie (at 1080p/30fps AND 720p/60fps), so it works at 30fps, and 60fps, but NOT 50fps !..... doesn't make sense ??
I mean i can use Avidemux and set the settings (below) and it works fine..... but that re-encodes the files and takes forever, i just want simple stitching without any recoding. It can do it with the Sony Bloggie and my Sanyo Xacti (both at 30fps and 60fos), but it can't do it with the MinoHD at 50fps. Strange !
