Hello,
I have been evaluating this VCR. Picture is GREAT! It seems though, that component RGB output is only available if you use a W-VHS tape? So the component output will not function if playing back a normal non "W-VHS" tape.
Conversely, a W-VHS tape seems to ONLY playback on Component output. Is this standard functionality for a SR-W7U?
Does anyone have any additional information on settings/etc that will allow the component RGB output to work with a VHS tape?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, both of your observations are true. You can't play a WVHS tape over the analog input on this deck, nor can you feed a VHS or SVHS tape signal over anything but the composite and S-VIDEO connections.
