  1. ...it is not playing my newly burned VCD. I converted my AVI using TMPGEnc to VCD (mpeg 1), there was not an option for mpeg 2. And then I burned using Nero to VCD (It said I need mpeg 2 for SVCD). Anyway, after completion and insertion into home DVD player which states it is DVD/VCD compatable, it stated on the screen that it doesn't play that type of CD. Can anyone explain how to get a working DVD? Thanks!

  2. it means it can play Retail (pressed/silver) VCDs. these are popular in Asia but can be found in the US as well. Unless your DVD standalone says it can play CDRs and CDRWs, it will only play retail VCDs, not VCDs burnt to CDR/CDRW.
