Huffy codec and field threshold

When capturing from a VHS tape at 640x480 do you set the field threshold in the Huffy codec for 240 or 480 field threshold?

old thread but still confusing question

from what the codec info says should be set to 240 ( capturing fields..)

lordsmurf on his site says 480 ( captures frame !?)

then again i read on the web that this codec in meant for interlace capturing

so capturing 640X480 (704 or 720 X480) should be set to 240 , for interlaced material

and i guess shouldn't be used for progressive sources

am i getting it right ? googling gives mixed reviews on this

I'm not aware of a "field threshold" in the parameters only color space (rgb /yuy2) and such

It doesn't matter what you set the field threshold to. You can just tell the editor your video interlaced when you open a HuffYUV file.

megui detects it like a varying field order file
i guess that if my capture doesn't drop or insert frame should be ok

varying captured with virtualdub and progressive captured with mmc 9.02

tmpge sees it like interlace i'll just test for the field order

The only difference in the output is if you set the Swap Fields option before encoding. Then when the vertical resolution exceeds the threshold the fields are swapped.
