    hi there

    ive been asked to capture a video in quicktime h.264 which i assume to be the codec?

    how could do this? i have a basic final cut express program

    Well, for starters you might tell us what the source video is - VHS tape, website streaming, etc.

    the tape source is mini dv and im capturing straight into a power mac g5 via firewire

    Simple. Capture into iMovie and export to Quicktime h.264.

    would it work on final cut express? i dont think that i have imovie?

    depends what version of FCE. Just download iMovie.

    If your OSX is too old, post the details.
