  1. I bought a vga to dvi-d cord to hook my laptop to 1080i flat screen. This was before i new that I need to have a dvi-i input on my hdtv since dvi-d is digital only. My question is can I convert the vga to digital so I can still use my tv as a monitor? Is there away to still use this vga dvi-d cord. Am I missing something or should just scrap it and go vga to componet?

    hdtv - sanyo vizon model dp23845 - dvi-d input

computer - asus k6oig notebook - windows 7 -intel graphics card

    Thanks everyone

Unless your laptop has DVI output, just a cable won't work to convert analog VGA to digital DVI. You would need a hardware VGA>DVI converter box. Something like this, though the price may shock you: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011401&p_id=...seq=1&format=2
