  2. Vegas doesn't support mkv files so you have to remux into mp4 or even avi, for mp4 use YAMB or mp4boxGUI.

none of those can open .mkv or .264

  4. open the mkv with tsmuxer and remux into .m2ts container

yamb will accept .264 files, you may have to use the beta2 version or rename to .h264, or use wildcards *.*

They should be able to open .264. Try change View all files when you add the video track.

Or use a mkv to mp4 or avchd/mts converter, https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-mkv-to-mp4-avchd-ts (the video wont be reconverted) , and import the mp4 or mts in vegas.

  8. It's simple all you have to do is extract the h.264 and aac from the mkv container and remux them into an mp4 container, the tools need are mkvtoolnix which includes mkvmerge to remux into mkv and mkvextract to extract from the mkv (also need mkvextract GUI2 and place it in mkvtoolnix installation folder) run mkvextractGUI2 drag and drop the mkv then extract and once you extracted the audio and video use YAMB to mux into mp4 using the original framerate.

  10. Use mkvextractGUI2 to extract not YAMB and I use mp4boxGUI to mux to mp4.

i extracted the file without any problem, the problem is i can't convert it in other format without lose any quality so vegas 10 pro to be able to import it
    Quote Quote
  12. did you try tsmuxer as suggested earlier ?

often vegas decoder has problems with some x264 encoder settings, and cannot import despite remuxing container

then you can use lossless AVI conversion for import e.g. huffyuv, lagarith, ut video codec ,no quality loss but big filesize
    Quote Quote
  13. I don't understand the problem when you extract then remux using mp4boxgui you get a lossless transfer from mkv to mp4 container.
Isn't it working? if not what error messages do you get and from what program?

    i will explain again:

    - i manage to demux the mkv file and i get these files
    1- the video track 1 as a .264 file
2- one audio file as track 2 as a .DTS file
3 -another audio file as track 3 as a .DTS file

    That's fine until now.
What i want to do is to import the .264 file in sony vegas 10 pro X64 and edit it but is impossible since vegas stops responding after importing it even i wait 2-3 hours still same result...like this:

    http://img848.imageshack.us/i/89503326.jpg/

Ok,since importing as mkv is impossible i wish to convert the .264 file in any format without lose quality or export the video file from mkv directly in mp4 or any fromat suported by vegas.
The .264 file is not working to be played in any player is that because may be corrupted or players don't reconize the file?
The mkv file from where i extracted the .264 works fine though.

  15. I extracted one of my mkvs and can open the h.264 just not the mkv, perhaps you need a codec pack with the right codecs I'd recommend win7codecs for 32bit and x64components +win7codecs for 64bit wouldn't touch k-lite with a 10 foot pole, If you have a codec pack which one?

Note: not sure if you need the codecs from the codec pack to open them since vegas should do it natively so test a few more h.264 files to see if they open.

  16. I'l upload a quick sample that works in vegas for me, if it doesn't work for you then do whjat I suggested with the codecs remove k-lite or whatever and install the two I said.

i finished converting the mkv to mp4 with tiger player and the result was a piece of chunk full of macroblocks and bad quality image so that isn't an option.
converting with mp4boxgui right now, waiting to see the result.
