heyy there... i am completely new and clueless to this. im trying to convert downloaded movie files to dvd to burn to play on regular surround sound systems. i downloaded AVI2DVD and it looks simple enough, but when i try to put in the file, it comes up with a window that says "Warning: Make sure that your path/file has no strange symbols like : ; , " ! ? ^ $. just rename your file/path without these strange characters...". but as far as i can tell, there are no such characters to be found. and because this thing came up the program wont show anything for the 'choose audio stream' or the film information. so i looked up help with avi2dvd and it said something about codecs that i might need to download. and wtf codecs are or what they're for... i unno.
this whole thing is just giving me the biggest headache ever!!
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP AND TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT IM DOING WRONG AND TELL ME EXACTLY HOW TO FIX IT!!!
Thanks in advance

Personally I'd use a different tool. AVStoDVD would be my choice, though DVDFlick may be slightly easier to use for someone new to the process.
The only thing to look out for in these programs is to make sure you are creating a dvd that conforms to your country's standards for dvds. In the US we use NTSC. Most of the rest of the world uses PAL. In AVStoDVD you can find this setting under Preferences-->Video.
To import a file into AVStoDVD, just click on the green + sign on the right side of the main window of the program.
