John Barry, best known for his film scores to 11 Bond films, died yesterday of a heart attack at age 77. He won 5 academy awards and a BAFTA fellowship for his work. Although often credited with writing the James Bond theme, it was his arrangement of Monty Norman's iconic piece that got him recognized and won him the composer job that would make him famous.
