I have made a backup of my bluray "predator 2", and I want to shrink it so it can be burned on a 25Gbyte Bluray.
I have tried with DVDFab 8, but this program never finish with the compression. It starts OK, but after 5-25% of job done, it just stop doing anything. No error, no freeze, just CPU-usage down to 0% and that's it. I have tried to let it be like this for a complete night, but no go.
I then found the program "MakeMKV", and it makes a .mkv file. But the file is bigger than 32Gbyte, so that does not work either.
I select the main movie only with HD english sound, and danish subs, and nothing else. How do I compress this title to fit a 25Gbyte bluray? Other titles I have made this way with DVDFab 8 without problems. But this one is teasing me a lot.![]()

If you'd like to try a different tool, I'd suggest BD Rebuilder.
Decrypt and rip the entire movie to the hard drive using DVDFab with no compression. Then use BD Rebuilder to compress to fit a 25gb disk. BD Rebuilder can do a complete movie backup, or the main movie only.
BD Rebuilder is free to use. You should download it from this page: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716 Be sure to read the instructions in that first post for installation of the three auxiliary programs that are necessary for BD Rebuilder to work. Download those three programs (AviSynth 2.57, FFDShow, and Matroska splitter) from the links at that page.
There are a few guides for using BD Rebuilder here at videohelp.com, and there is this one at myce.com: http://club.myce.com/f142/bd-rebuilder-guide-313227/ -
How big is the main movie? You should be able to reduce the size. BD Rebuilder is probably a good choice. Are you able to play back the ripped .m2ts of the main movie from the hard drive? Does the MKV you created with MakeMKV work, I mean is it complete? This sounds a bit like the decryption/rip to the hard drive was a problem.
You can also use tsMuxeR to remove everything from the .m2ts files and just keep the main movie and the subs you want. If the movie is spread across several .m2ts files, then use the playlist from BDInfo. -
To summarize:
1) Use DVDFab only for ripping uncompressed to hard drive.
2) Install BDRB and the necessary tools. It's important that you follow the instructions exactly and use correct tool versions.
3) Open the folder in BDRB. Select Movie-Only or Full Disc.
4) Select target size of BD25. Leave encoder settings on automatic.
5) In settings, you can set BDRB to always include/exclude certain streams if you like. You can also delete any audio/sub stream in the main window by clicking on it.
6) The other settings you probably don't need to be concerned with just now.
Backup. That's about as easy as it gets. Good luck.Pull! Bang! Darn! -
Thank you very much for info. I have downloaded all the programs for use with BD Rebuilder, and I have just startet it.
Mainmovie with 1 audio-stream and 1 sub (danish) is about 32Gbyte, so I need to shrink it to fit on a 25Gbyte. But maybe this will work? I hope so.
Are there any settings different from default, that I should change? I want this output:
Main movie with MasterHD dts and Danish subs, and nothing else, fitted to a 25Gbyte BluRay (single layer).
I have ripped the complete bluray to HD (about 42,7Gbyte), and I then let BD Rebuilder look inside this directory. Choosing output size, selecting audiostream and danish sub, selecting output Path, and then just started the backup-process. Is that correct? -
Go to Settings-->Setup and make sure there is a check mark in the box next to Keep HD Audio for BD 25 Encoding. This will insure you get the DTS HD MA audio stream that you want.
