Can you access drive f through explorer? The drive may either be disconnected, or access is otherwise being denied by permissions. First try rebooting and see if the problem persists.

It's looking for a file called ".mpg"
Which is pretty unlikely, means the real filename has been lost somehow.
What is the name of your input video?
if it's something with spaces and punctuation, try renaming it to something short and simple, just letters and numbers, and try again.

You don't say what program you are using to convert but somewhere in an optional path statement you have typed (or the program erroneously defaults) to a source, temp / working or target path that is invalid. When the program tries to access a file using this path you will get that type of message.

A filename cannot begin with a period (.) The path 'F:\.mpg' is looking for a file called ".mpg" (not what you might think is implied "blank.mpg" but rather ".mpg.noextent") and that first period is what is invalid in a file name.
If you intended to have a search path looking for all files that end in .mpg then it should look like this "F:\*.mpg"
If you wanted a specific file then it should look like "F:\filename.mpg".

Check all selectable path options in the program(s) you are using and you should find the error.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

A filename can begin with a period - it's not uncommon for programs to use such files for user program settings (even on Windows).

(However, it's still unlikely the OP has a file called ".mpg".)
