    AFAIK, Edius is designed generally for desktop editing workstations (although if your laptop is powerful enough, it should work). Are you talking about Edius Neo? It might be better to check the Grass Valley website. I recall an Edius user forum there.

    they don't offer the laptop version as a demo.

    try the regular version to see what edius is like.
