Hi,
i have problem with an avi-file (xvid), i've got from a friend. When i watch it, there is permanently a very disturbing timer in the upper right corner.
First i thought the timer is part of the avi file, but when i copied the file on another computer, the players there (vlc and media classic) played the file without showing the timer. So i assume, it is not embedded in the video stream, but ist is an extra part of the avi.
I tried it on different computers with different players, and all other system - and also my media player for TV - showed the timer.
Knows anyone the problem or has even a solution how to get rid of this timer? (to convert the file on the system without timer had no effect)
Kind regards
Patrick

	Thanks for your answer guns1inger,

but this timer doesn't seem to be a subtitle.
I attached a small part of this file this time.
Maybe someone knows the solution of this problem?
Possibly it's a simple thing, but i am not into deep in video editing.

 Kind regards

 Patrick

Probably an mkv or avi container, some players dont handle subs well.

But from the looks of it its possible that its the timewarner preview which has that stamped.

This thread is kind of old, but since I count on this site as one of the premier video related sites I just want to make sure anyone looking for the solution can find it here as well. Disclosure: Not my solution, found it online. Worked for me.

Press Display ONCE, then use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to cycle.

Once you get it so that it's only asking for a time to jump to and the OSD timer has disappeared, press Display one last time and you're all set.
