    I have tried this with a couple different video players - VLC and KMPlayer. In either one, if I load a DVD, and then press Alt-Print Screen to capture the window, and then paste it into a graphics program, it only captures the program window. It does not capture any of the actual video for some reason. The program window that gets pasted in the graphics program will just show black.

    In VLC, go to Video-->Snapshot

    In the preferences, it will show where screenshots are stored.
