MOV File to wmv version 9

Hi there,

I have a hd camcorder which records to MOV format. I then convert the files using AVS video converter to WMV 9 and play them through my playstation 3. This has always worked fine.

However, as I'm getting married soon I recorded a 32 minute test clip to check this conversion still worked on larger files when converting from MOV to WMV. The WMV worked fine at first, but 10 mins or so in the clip starts to jump every 3 seconds.

I used my basic home laptop, which is dual core and 3 gig RAM, and it did take around 8 hours to convert, I wondered if it's down to not having a super quick computer or something else?

Also, is there a service out there where you can give an online shop etc an sd card full of MOV files where they will convert to blu-ray for you?

No, it's not because of your computer. Maybe try convert with something else and I would convert to mp4 for your ps3 with for example handbrake, use the ps3 profile. If you prefer wmv then try hdconverttox.

edit: Or, I see that you posted in the streaming forum so are you STREAMING to your ps3? Then might your computer be to slow if the video is realtime reconverted.

I don't understand why shorter films are fine though. Is this handbrake a free piece of software? I have converted to mpeg 4 before and find this take more memory up. So this software has a ps3 setting? I'm also confused as to why the first 12 mins of the film is fine?

As I say, it plays from the camera to tv fine through hdmi - could it be that i need a faster sd card? I think the one I have does 15 mb/p/s?

Ideally i'd like to just give my files to a shop to just stick it on a blu ray then it's job done!
