  1. Can anyone recommend one? I would love one that is region free, and plays vids in formats such as avi, vob, mpeg2, mpeg hd, mp4, etc. I'm still using one from YEARS ago that plays some avi and mpg files, but not all of them - and not a whole lot of other kinds of files either. I'm in the US, and am also willing to purchase online.

    Anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate it!

  4. HTPC.. I want to do this, but I was told it wouldn't work out with my kind of setup. I have a new mac-mini, but my TV is a bit old school, and only has the basic a/v cable outputs. I heard using a new mac mini with that kind of adapter makes the resolution come out blurry. Is this true?

  5. I don't know about the Mac Mini but composite video output from a computer can have a resolution about the same as your typical DVD player via composite -- roughly 640x480. A 1024x768 desktop via composite isn't really usable. It will look about like the picture in this post:

    I think you could run something like XBMC or Boxee comfortably though.
