  1. Hi I have a .avi movie in 2 half's and 2 x .srt files. as cd1 and cd2 how can I join these with the subs as vob files like a VIDEO_TS and a AUDIO_TS which will play on a home DVD player.

    Most all-in-one dvd converters supports that, like DVD Flick, ConvertXtoDVD, AVStoDVD, etc. Load avi, srt and convert. You might get a small pause between the break.

    You can change the subtitle position in most applications. Check the subtitle setting!

    Setttings->Subtitles->Subtitle text rendering settings and change the margin values. You will see a preview to the right.

    but how do I know what size to make margins to fit TV screen

    or do I just make sure the text on ConvertXtoDVD subtitles inside that safe area

    can anyone help on this bit please

    That is what the safe area is for. If you want to guarantee that you text will appear on screen on 90+ % of TVs, put it in the safe area
