  2. Hi-

I explained to a fellow how to do this a few days ago. He wanted to replace German with French, and you want to replace PCM with AC3. Same idea:

It's not the recent release of the Cream reunion concert, is it? Damn stupid idea if you ask me, PCM and DTS on the same DVD. And it's full bitrate DTS. Over 3000 bits of the available 10000 wasted on the audio.

  3. And you don't buy that DVD for the audio track?

IOWs it makes sense to me.

I seem to recal a Fleetwood Mac flippy that had DTS or AC3 on one side and LPCM audio on the other side.

VdubMod to extract DTS. TDA to copy movie to HD as Mpeg2. Demux and then reauthor with chapters etc.

Don't think TDA will take DTS audio, so you need to either author it with something that does, or use IFOEdit to add it in after authoring with TDA.

Guns1inger:-You're right, TDA won't take DTS. I was suggesting a simple way of copying movie file to HD as an mpeg with TDA and then demuxing to rip out audio (we have the DTS already via VDubMod-stream list). I should have said in my post "Cannot reauthor back with TDA after this because of DTS. An alternative authoring app is needed."

DVDLab Pro, DVDAuthor and a few others will.

Why do you think AC3 does not support 5.1 surround? All my conversions from mkv to avi have AC3 are 5.1 surround converted from AAC and sound just great.

BTW AC3 is from Dolby Labs. I think they know what they are doing !!!!
