I am trying to convert an MKV file to dvd but I am having a particular problem with one such file. First since TMPGEnc Authoring Works cannot import this file directly, I use mkvtovob to convert the file to an mpeg. Then I put in into Authoring works but it reads the file as being twice as long. The video is about 3 hours but TMPGEnc reads it as 6. Because of this, I cannot author the dvd. What causes this discrepancy?

mkv2vob should only be used if you are going to play it on a ps3. It does not create a standard vob.
Use instead avstodvd to convert directly to dvd or a mpg that you can import in tmpgenc authoring works.
