Hi,
I'm doing quite a lot of captures from VHS tapes. Sometimes, with old or bad tape, i get frame drop rates of 30%. I discovered that they can be avoided, if I capture in a vertical resoultion of 287 instead of 288 or 574 instead of 576 (PAL). My capture card is a Hauppauge WinTV Go unter Win ME.

It's not the hard disk (40G Seagate, DMA turned on). It only depends on the video tape. Normally I get next to zero dropped frames, but with some tapes the drop rate reproducably climbs to 30%. I'm glad I can avoid this now.
