    Hi Everyone,

My friend was filming (he really sucks) the whole scene is just too shaky.
I hope someone can help me with providing the best/better settings. I want to create a video where this scene is a part of.

I use Deshaker with VirtualDub. The guides on internet didn't help much.
But I've seen similair shaking with good results on Youtube. I think the problem is that this video is filmed while walking and the guide's are more for just standing still and less shaking. I've experimented alot but there just are some crazy artifacts in the video

Great guides I've followed but didn't work

    Here are the samples

Original (whole scene is longer but similair bad shooting)

Deshaked, in the end you see a artifact

    Thanks

  2. That's a pretty low quality sample. It already has letterboxing, and has been processed. What other things were done to it?

What does the original footage look like? It might be better to upload an original sample

Clarify what artifact are you speaking of? Is it in the original footage as well? or only after using deshaker?

  3. If the video has black borders -- crop them away before attempting to deshake.

    Got the video now...

Also, do not use blend deinterlace that will totally confuse the deshaker. Use something smarter like Yadif.

The video is bad shooted and shaky. After the deshaker at the end of the sample there is a artifact, hard to explain, I will upload the original MP4 and a sample of what I get after deshaker.

But VirtualDub can't handle MP4, I hope you have the Directshow plugins

That file is confusing, I converted the MP4 640x480 to DV since Vdub can only handle AVI
    I will update the information

  7. The distortion at the end of your file is from deshaker trying to fill in the borders with data from other frames. It doesn't work perfectly. Instead of filling the borders crop away the black borders that creep in without it. Default deshaker settings, cropping 48 pixels of the left and right edges, 32 off the top and bottom:

    Thanks for your effort
That looks very promising, hope it won't affect the video much. I hope there will be not too much zooms in the whole video ( I can turn that off maybe). On the other side I can't stand that original shooting, it is just look too bad.

Tommorrow I will come with an answer after checking/testing the whole video

I've used the setting you said. It looks good.
Sometimes it isn't nessecairy to crop, so I cropped it manually.
Too much cropping/decropping can be annoying, so I did it at least as possible.

I've tried all edge compensations but the others wil have too much zoom.
This is the best I think. Thanks for the help.

Next time I will have to learn him shooting

Manual Shake Smoother from Unisoftlab can help you if you split the video into short fragments.
