    I'm loading Windows7 on my new computer. It's got an i7-860 2.8G Quad. Is doing a "burn-in" for the CPU still part of the deal?

    Depends on the heat sink compound used. Most newer ones don't need much if any break in. And unless you overclock, not much point. I would check the CPU temps with something like HW Monitor: http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

    Or you can run something like Prime95 if you really want to stress it: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103

    It is not necessary ... but more useful as a method of stressing the components / system for stability purposes

    I only do this with problematic systems via the ultimate boot cd utilities
