  1. Right, I havn't been on here in quite awhile and havn't created any DVDs for ages. I have been trying to use some (old) DVD programs that were on my PC. One is Nero, which works but for some reason the files (even though I slected 16:9) came out in 4:9 format. Power Producer Gold makes the files look odd & isn't always adding the audio.

So what am I trying to do...I have several VOB files (when I play the original files on their original discs on my TV they show up 16:9) which I am trying to edit onto a single disc with some backing tracks. I want them to show up in the widescreen format (fill the screen) but I am having issues with that.

What I have tried to do so far...I have tried converting the files so I could add the soundtrack in Windows Movie Maker but I get errors & the program won't load them. I used Power Producer (which looked ok) but the sound didn't always come through & one of the VOBs looked distorted. Nero was good, allowed me to add the music to the VOB files but even though settings were set to 16:9 came out as 4:9. Really frustrating.

I need a free program (or programs) that will allow me to add my MP3s or music to the existing VOB files, keeping the high quality & then burn them to a DVD that will show up 16:9 on my TV/DVD player.

It seemed really simple but obviously my programs are out dated. I can't afford the upgrades or new programs so I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advice & point me in the right direction.

I also apologise if this is in the wrong place...

What do you mean by adding mp3? Mix it to the original sound or replace the current audio or as a new track or?

AVStoDVD (free) should do what you ask. It has a preview mode. in the Avisynth tab the Crop and Vertical Resize options should help you dial in the vid.
