Question why new software causes Windows Media to not play stream

I installed this Chinese DVD software player
(link: http://rapidshare.com/files/283039767/hjsetup_3500.zip)
and now when I play the BBC with Windows Media Player, it plays at chipmunk speed, stops and plays at chipmunk speed.

Screenshot 1 shows how I play this stream. However, if I use Media Player Classic, the stream plays fine.

My question is: Why after installing this Chinese software does Windows Media Player not play this BBC stream correctly?

The DVD player software probably installed a DirectShow components that are incompatible with other DirectShow components on your system.

Use GraphStudio to render your ASX file and see what filters are used.
