OK - system specs first I suppose...
P3 800 - Gigabyte mobo (no onboard devices)
Windows 98 SE
384mb SDRAM
TNT2 basic 32mb vid card
TV Excel TV/Capture (PV-BT878p+)
Sony CCD-TR317E PAL Handycam
I've installed the TV/Capture card according to the (crappy) instructions that came with it - not extremely helpful in the troubleshooting section...lol! The system and various vid editing apps can see it fine, and report no conflicts.
The Handycam has a Composite video jack and a separate Audio (mono) jack.
The TV/Capture card has input jacks for Composite, Audio, and S-Video.
So I plug the Handycam into the Composite jack - nothing (yes, I did hit Play) - the best I can get is black with 2 purple bands in the preview window?
Then I figure that I might go and get a converter cable from Composite to S-video, and try in that jack - same problem...
Driver for the Audio and Video capture that came with the card is Brooktree Fusion - if that helps any...
Noticed that the Capture card is using IRQ 11 - the same as my TNT2 and one of my Network cards - but Windows says "no conflicts" on all 3?
Have tried with various software - stuff that came with the card is next to useless - Ulead Video Studio 5, and VirtualDub 1.4.8 - they can all see the card fine - just give me no picture...
I've had the Handycam attached to a mate's Asus card and grabbed stuff OK - so I know the camera can feed the info...
Any ideas as to how to make me a happy camper??
T.
