It plays fine on my pc but will not work in my ps3 burned to a disc
When I try to fix it with the AVI fixers they say that there is nothing wrong with it.
When I try to reencode using autoGK virtualdub stops the encoding near the end and says that the source resolution is wrong.
How do I fix this file?
Thanks[/s]

Not that familiar with the PS3 video requirements, but that would be the first thing to find out. Then re-encode your video to those specifications. I would drop the file into MediaInfo or Gspot and see what resolution, etc., it presently is. Then convert that to something your PS3 can accept.
That error can also be caused by a odd resolution. Most times you want the vertical and horizontal resolution to be divisible by two, four, or eight or sixteen, depending on the codec used. Odd numbers will generally cause problems.
Playing on a PC doesn't mean much of anything. Some players like VLC can play a corrupted file or one with missing frames and you may not notice. But try to encode or play that file on a set top player and it won't work most times. -
In Virtualdub it gives me this error when I try to fix the resolution:
Video compression error:The source image format is not acceptable. (error code-2) -
We're going to need more information than that, actually.
If you use GSpot, load the video, then take a screenshot of the entire window and post it here. You can blank out the file and pathnames, if you want. If you're using MediaInfo, switch to Tree View. Copy all of the information given, then paste it into a post, here.
Standalone players are a LOT more picky about the videos they will or won't play, than a PC. The PS3 takes it a little further, reportedly, and is even more picky about Xvid AVIs than DivX AVIs. I haven't tested that many AVIs with the PS3, so I couldn't say for sure.If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
