  1. I have not been able to make an 80 minute VCD under 700 megs. my 80 minute VCDs are generally over 800mgs. Are there special setting that need to be used?

My method for making VCDs is.

    Smart Ripper

    DVD2AVI

    TMPGENC

    NERO

And, i have a problem with nero, it says an 80 minute CD can only hold 74 minute, and a 74 minute Cd can only hold 72 minutes? (this is based on the yellow, and red "stop" bars on the cd. Although, i could be an idiot, and this JUST, dawned on me when i typed in yellow and red. That that is for 74 minute CD, and yellow is dangerously close to CD edge, and red is the edge?

BTW, does the filesize change when you burn it to the CD?

    Hi Maelstorm,
I don't use Nero, but I use VideoPack 4 to make XVCDs and WinOnCD 3.8 PE sometimes.
And I was able to fit 820MB file on 80min/700MB Memorex CD-RW disk.

  3. well ,
you should know the specifications of the cdr .
you have iso and the udf mode
in iso you get 650mb on a 74min cd
in udf you get 740mb on a 74min cd
for a 80 min cd the numbers are 700 and 800mb

    it works like this :
the sector size for iso is 2048 bytes
whereas the sector size for udf is 2532 which is about 15%
more, and thats the extra space

the unused space in iso is use for checksum which the udf format does not need .
