I have no idea what my internal hard drive is because I'm using an old computer. Is there a piece of software that gives you the info on your hard drive? Stuff like 8MB buffer or 16MB buffer, and spin speed (7200).

Thanks, I figured the old hard drive had a 8MB buffer and I was right. HDtune gives you the buffer, but it doesn't mention the spin speed.

	Try Crystaldiskinfo or Crystaldiskmark. 8)
 Check them here: http://crystalmark.info

huh? Just go to the Bios and look at the model number or get the model number from the Device manager, then go online and look it up.

Another program is SIW. Gives you an incredible amount of info about a PC, including the drives. And there's a freeware version : http://www.gtopala.com/ : http://www.gtopala.com/

Does it give you the info for external drives? I tried HDtune on my external drive and got nothing.

SIW works on my external 500GB Fantom USB HDD. Gives a whole page of info. If you use the 'SIW Standalone (English-Only)' version , nothing is installed to your computer: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html
