Ok now i have plenty of experience burning CDs & DVDs, but this is the first time i've bought/used an External USB DVD burner.
Now it came with no software disc, just USB plug & play. Right off the bat it read CDs, DVDs, and burned CD-Rs Perfectly. However, i haven't been able to get it to burn a single DVD-R yet! I keep getting some weird error.
At first i thought maybe the company made a mistake, and this is really just a DVD/CD-R combo drive and not a DVD burner. Yet when examining the drive using various applications such as DVDInfoPro, they all confirm this is a DVD-RW drive.
I've tried Nero, DVD decryptor, and even the built-in windows burning tool with no success. I'm using WinXP SP3 BTW.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

What weird error? Can you post the text of it? What brand and model external burner?
Have you tried ImgBurn for burning? It's about the best burning program out there. Much better than Nero, IMO. Unless you have a newer version of Nero, it may not be able to find a burn solution for your burner. And DVD Decrypter is very out of date for new burners. ImgBurn is it's successor. And ImgBurn should tell you the capabilities of your burner.
Another possibility is your USB 2.0 connection may be too slow because of conflicts with other USB devices.
Next possibility is crappy DVD media. But more info would help before anyone could take a guess.
