I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for a while. It seems like every time someone tries to make an AVISynth editor with a GUI the project stagnates to death.

My idea is to create a competition for making such an editor. Contestants that enter must release the final product by a specific deadline. The results are judged and the winner gets a cash prize.

I wrote a post about this idea on the Doom9 forums as well. I have an idea on how to make this work but I'd like some feedback first. What do you guys think about the competition idea?
