    Hi

    I'm new so I apologise if this is in the wrong forum.

    I have successfully used DVD Fab for a few years with no problem whatsoever, I have used it in addition to Img Burn.

    I am trying to copy previously ripped and burnt dvds using both DVD FAB HD and Img Burn to an external hard drive.

    The problem is that when the dvd is being ripped it gets to about 80% or more then comes up saying Error Reading Disk, I have then either been asked to restart with Path Player enabled or to Retry, Abort, Ignore or Ignore All.

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I am using the same steps that I always use and have never had this problem previously. DVD Fab has already successfully ripped the dvd so why won't it redo it?

    I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

    Many thanks

    Possible scratch or fingerprint on the disc more than likely...

    So it is the dvdr backups you are trying to rip or the originals that have been ripped before ??

    If you are trying to rip the DVDR's you made previously, it is probably from bad media.

    As many SPECIFIC details should be given.

    Previously ripped therefore not an encrypted disc.

    Try:
    1. Get most upto date version of DVDFab decrypter for any potential bug fixes and retry; if still fails, try,
    2. Cleaning disc;
    3. Try a different drive;
    5. Perhaps use DVD Decrypter and/or DVDShrink to rip to hard drive if no.1 still crashes;
    6. Burn.

    Hi

    Many thanks for the prompt replies. I'll try and provide a bit more detail.

    I have tried cleaning disks, but it has happened on more than one disk they were previously ripped by DVD HD Decrypter and others on the ordinary one that HD one replaced. The films play fine both in a dvd player and in Vista Media Centre which is why I'm doing all this, I am making my own dvd library using the 1tb hard drive to store them.

    Today it worked on the first couple of dvds then all of a sudden it started coming up with these warnings. I upgraded DVD Fab HD to the newest version as I had orignally thought it might not be up to date enough.

    Hope to hear from someone.

    Many thanks

  6. You don't have sticky labels on the discs?

    Tried a lens cleaner or a different drive?

    Just a reach this one but have you done any firmware updates on any of your drives?

    Might narrow it down as more than likely a media issue (on previously ripped discs) if you tried ripping the original retail dvd again. Any faults there?

    Hi

    No there aren't any labels on the disk.

    I haven't tried a lens cleaner but it's worth a go. I have an external Iomega dvd drive which I'll try tomorrow.

    What is the Path Player thing about - read different information on it so am none the wiser. Just wanted to know as it's been prompting me to restart the programme so that it can enable it. Also just found where I'd written down one of the error messages and it says: Data error Cyclic Redundancy Check.

    Hope this info might help to make things a bit clearer to someone.

    What brand of media did you use? Too often people think after a "successful burn" that they are all set. Only when they later try to read it, they find they have a problem. From what you describe, the most probable reason is bad media.

    Data error Cyclic Redundancy Check
    This error is most always from bad media and sometimes from scratched discs but almost always from bad media (Ritek, Ridata etc...).

    Almost certainly a media issue with such an error. Try using DVD decrypter with 'ignore errors' checked; that has worked in the past for me but NOT on all of them.

    Why not go back and just rip and burn the original, instead of wasting time on a copy.

    Hi

    Many thanks for all the different suggestions, today I am going to try and use a lens cleaner on the disk and also use my external Iomega DVD drive.

    As for not bothering with the copy and using the original unfortunately I am in a wheelchair and the originals are in the loft and no one is available to help get them down so it's not an option - would have been the easiest solution otherwise - if only my arms were a bit longer lol.

    Hi

    Quick update I've been successfully copying films via my Iomega DVD Drive using DVD Fab HD all morning then just to throw a spanner in the works it's all of a sudden coming up saying Failed to delete folder/file. F:\DVDs\MainMovie\New\.

    F is the hard disk drive and all my movies are being saved in a folder I've named DVDs the Main Movie part is for a film that a friend did for me and it now won't let me move it or delete it. DVD Fab now won't let me rip any films as it keeps coming up with this dialogue box.

    Starting to think after years of using computers that they don't always like things to go smoothly!
