Hey all!
My PHILIPS DVP642 died on me, the power light just keeps blinking & it doesn't turn on.
However, I want to get my disc out, is there a way to do this somehow?
Thanks!

Just start taking it apart....It's already dead.
Are you afraid of damaging it?

Unplug it first. Plug it back in see if it works.
Easy to take the disk out, just unscrew the top. After you unplug it that is. -
It's not as easy as just removing the top as the drive cage doesn't allow access to the disc. I would simply try prying the drive tray open. If you can't do that, then remove the countless screws holding the top on, and then pry the drive door open. Just did this myself a few weeks ago.

FIRST, try handyguy's suggestion!!!! You wouldn't believe how many problems like yours can simply be remedied by unplugging the unit for about ten minutes, then plugging it back in and hitting Eject.
