    I have an avi in DIVX 5.1 which I have trouble searching through in any media player.I s there a way to fix with virtualdub?

    I'm guessing it has a missing or damaged index.

    In VDub, just select all, resave it with both video and audio set to "direct stream copy".

    If that doesn't help, try some of the tools you find here.

    In virtualdub-in file open dialog box,check the extended options box while loading file, in the extended options dialog box-select rederive keyframe flags-direct stream copy for both audio and video as mentioned by AlanHK and save file with new name.
