    I would like to be able to put a picture in my DVD so that when it is in a computer the folder comes up with that picture. I also thought that at one time there was a way that if one pressed pause on the remote rather than the still image at that time it would come up with the picture perhaps something in a J_Folder. Thanks

    You're thinking of the "Jacket Picture" feature. These are specially-encoded MPEG I-frames (not jpeg), put into the JACKET_P folder (just off the root).

    Unless you have an encoding/authoring app that specifially supports the creation of jacket pictures, it probably won't be created correctly. And even if it is created correctly, the Jacket Picture feature is only supported on some models of players.

    In a computer, you could put jpgs in another folder and have autorun set to open the folder, etc. (assuming your computer is still set to allow autorun - a big if).

    Thats right Jacket_P how easily it is to forget these things. I have made two DVDs and just put the jpg file in the main root directory (not in a folder) The DVDs each ran correctly in two different DVD players. Should this be okay or will DVD players throw a fit when it sees these files that don't belong? PS thanks for your response PS thanks for the response Scott

    The dvd will play ok as long as you add the folders and burn as a dvd video.

    How a given DVD player plays DVD-Video is tied to how compliant the dvd is to the DVD-Video spec. This includes:
    Codecs (MPEG2 SP&ML, MP@ML, MPEG1, lpcm,ac3,mp2,dts)
    Layout (VIDEO_TS.IFO, .VOB, .BUP, etc)
    Filesystem (UDF 1.02, VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders, <=1GBmax each file, etc)
    ...many more specifics

    How a given DVD player plays jpegs is totally at the whim of the DVD player (and chipset) manufacturer.
    (Note: DO NOT put them in either the VIDEO_TS or AUDIO_TS folders!)

    Jacket Picture is an optional adjunct to the DVD-Video spec.
