I am scripting converting some WMV's to AVI's on my PC.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to retrieve any of the info below about the WMV.
Such as:
Video Demensions
Video bitrate
Audio bitrate
Audio Sample Rate
Whether it be a command line utility I can just parse the output in my script or whatever
you guys can come up with.
Thanks,
Kenny

Right click on the video and select Properties. Or use MediaInfo or GSpot. Many players will report statistics by right clicking on the video while playing and selecting Properties or Media Info or some such.

Nice, I'll give MediaInfo a try.

I think you guys set a new world record for topic reply lol

Unfortunately the conversion software I'm using doesn't have an option to use the source files dimensions etc. so I'm going to try writing the settings to the ini file before launching the app.

My options are limited since the converter app must support DRMed files.

 Thanks for the help.

May I ask how exactly you are planning to convert DRMed WMV files? I'd really like to see an explanation on this when programs like FairUse4WM can't even remove DRM from all WMV files, so what exactly makes you think you have figured something out that nobody else has? What if there isn't a valid license for the file? How are you going to handle that?Originally Posted by kenny782

If it works (again, it won't work on some files) FairUse4WM uses a valid license to remove the DRM. No valid license, no removal. I'd guess that maybe if these files have valid licenses you might play them and capture the output stream and convert that on the fly, if you can (gonna probably need a lot of CPU for that).

Well I do have a valid license for the files.
I just want to get rid of the protection. But my provider require 6324 so none of the strippers work.

I'm just using a lossy converter that supports conversion of DRMed files.
Honestly I don't see or hear the difference so to hell with it lol

My MCE is a dual Xeon machine. So I let it sit there and grind away on whatever conversion I need done during the day.

Right now I'm trying, Daniusoft Media Converter Pro
It successfully converted one for me. But it sucks that I have to tell it what the resolution is etc.

Do you know of a better app?

 Thanks,

 Kenny

Media info was able to pull what I needed, adding to my script to parse for the info I need.

 Thanks guys

I'm writing a program with a gui that will that is able
Pull down the webpage in the background
Parse the HTML source code and extract the titles bitrates and url's
 And then initiate a download

 I have the above working.
So now I'm just trying to automate the un-DRM process if possible

I could add a queue if I wanted to get crazy but I'll be happy enough if this works lol
