i am using N-72 mobile. how can transfer music files from my PC to the phone. one method i use is through the nokia suite. but in this you have to take the cd containing the softwre nokiasuite with you wherever you go. i have heard about another method of transferring files with a data cable. By this method you can transfer files very easily . you have only to take the data cable with you that's all. ? can i transfer files from the Pc with a data cable? is it possible to use both method in the same Phone --N-72. or is it reserved for a particular brand?

As far as I know, with Nokia phones, you generally have to use Nokia's PC Suite to transfer files to and from the phone, even with a data cable... unless you have a Bluetooth-capable phone and something else capable of using Bluetooth to transfer files, AND your phone can use an external memory card (apparently, most of the phones don't let you access the main phone memory through Bluetooth alone - you'll have to use BT and PC Suite together.)

There are some alternatives to PC Suite that may work (PC Suite leaves a lot of active processes in memory and, reportedly, also intercepts things like USB connections), like Gammu/Wammu, but I was never able to get it to work. Fortunately, though, the Bluetooth-capable phones don't require you to go through that headache, necessarily.

Nokia has more than one type of data cable. Not sure which one your phone uses, offhand. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

My (admittedly older) Nokia has a 2 GB memory card in it. Once plugged in to the PC it is seen as any other drive, and I can copy files to and from it without using the Nokia Suite. I can also take the card out and use a standalone card reader to do the same.

However, if you I want to transfer software (games etc) to either the phone or card, or if I want to transfer anything to the phone memory itself, I have to use the Nokia Suite. I believe that I also have to install drivers just to get the phone recognised as a drive to start with (it has been a while)Read my blog here.
