On my hard drive, I have a file that is supposed to have subtitles. There is an AUDIO_TS folder, a VIDEO_TS folder (containing the IFO, BUP, and VOB), and there is a small srt file. When I play the file in VLC, there are no subtitles.

First question, How do I get the subtitles to show up when I play the file? Do I have all the needed files, or am I missing something?

Second question, Assuming that I have all the files and that nothing else is amiss, Is it possible to burn a DVD that will have subtitles when I play the DVD on the computer or on a stand-alone DVD player?

  2. to put srt subs into a dvd you will need to re-author it. use dvdlab pro, import the vobs and srt. here's a thread on adding the subs.

I found Baldrick's guide to be very useful in getting started. However, the process reaches a point where it stops and tells me that the VobBlanker process can not be started because the specified file can't be found. What file is it looking for? And what do I need to do?

  4. It's looking for the VIDEO_TS.IFO. It's not actually looking for it. You point to it via File->Open DVD. Once you're in and want to replace the old video with the new one with the new subs, then you go Replace->VIDEO_01_0.IFO, scrolling to the VIDEO_01_0.IFO from your new Muxman authored DVD, the one with the new subs.
