    Hi,
thanks for the advice. But what I want to know is that is it possible to delete parts of a movie without having to save the edited movie back to the hard drive? Meaning I want to open a video file, and just delete parts of it and not have to have extra memory to save the new file. Can that be done

Nope. You must save as a new file. Use video->direct stream copy and audio->direct stream copy to avoid reconversion.

  7. Free up some HD space.

Clear your temp. internet files folder, most people have several GB stored there

    Clean out your recycle bin

    Or buy another HD
