Hi,
thanks for the advice. But what I want to know is that is it possible to delete parts of a movie without having to save the edited movie back to the hard drive? Meaning I want to open a video file, and just delete parts of it and not have to have extra memory to save the new file. Can that be done -
or once Ive loaded the movie into virtualdub can I delete the movie, can I delete the movie off the hard drive so that there is memory to save the edited movie from virtualdub?

Nope. You must save as a new file. Use video->direct stream copy and audio->direct stream copy to avoid reconversion.

So its not possible to just delete the parts of the movie I dont want and not have to save the new file? Reason Im asking is Im out of memory on my hard disk. Is there anything I can do.

Free up some HD space.
Clear your temp. internet files folder, most people have several GB stored there
Clean out your recycle bin
Or buy another HD
