AVI Playback Problem.

Hi,

Ive had a fair bit of experiance with AVI files but something has rescentley stumped me, im trying to get one of the old computers at work to play AVI files as its dead at work for a few months so its easy to sit back and watch a movie on night shifts,

System specs are:-
Windows 98SE
Intel Pentuim 3 800Mhz
128MB RAM

Installed are: -
K Lite Mega Codec pack
Direct X 8.1
AC3 filter
and all other patchs i could find info on

Now the files play fine on my laptop but when they played at work the video is flawless but the audio just sounds like static interferance, i know its not the sound card because music works and all other sounds, what am i missing?

Use mediainfo on your video file to determine what codecs are being used.

If it's not installed, install it

Another option is to use VLC or Mplayer which have internal codecs pre-installed. They play virtually everything without having to fiddle with codecs.

What was the actual audio codec being used?

ffdshow is installed with k-lite pack, but you sometimes have to "turn on" the appropriate codec because it is off by default. For example, if the audio was "vorbis" you would have to go to the ffdshow audio configuration and select "libavcodec"
