Hi guys,
this is my problem. I have a movie that is in uncut in Pal format and I want to add the ntsc audio to it, the ntsc version is cut but in English.
I ripped the dvd using dvd decrypter and got the .vob file, I went into Virtualdubmod and checked under Video, Framerate, the framerate says 25fps so far so good. I rip the ntsc dvd and load in Virtualdubmod and check the framerate, it's 29.970 for both the video and audio so it's all good. I then go to streams list and extract the audio as a .wav file.
I tried converting the video to ntsc 29.970 in tmpg express.
I open vdubmod again and load the newly process file as 29.970, then in streamslist I dissable the original audio stream and add the ntsc .wav file I ripped. When I go backinto video framerate now the numbers change, the video stays at 29.970fps but the audio never never stays at 29.970 it will always change to 31.387,why is that?
I would rather keep the video as pal and do something to the audio but I just want the framerate on both to be the same in either pal or ntsc settings.
can someone please explain this to me, I have a bunch of similar projects lined up and I am stuck.

 define cut, and your objective.
are you going to run through the pal version and cut it so frames match ntsc version?
are you gonna use original pal audio for cut scenes in ntsc version?

you can do that.Originally Posted by jin007
 speedup audio with a timestretch.
you'll probably want to use an audio editor for all this. (audacity)

 (people still use besweet?)

Thanks alot guys, I really appreciate your help.

I will try besweet and convert the ntsc .wav into a pal .wav to see if the fps match when I load into vdub.

 To answer your questions, 45Tripp

the pal video is uncut with deleted scenes and Widescreen but in German, the ntsc dvd is shorter in length by like 5 minutes and fullscreen but English.

I wanted to get both video and audio to match in framerates no matter if ntsc or pal. Then I was going to add the english audio to it and just adjust it, for the uncut scenes the only thing I can do is have my friend translate the audio and I will add subtitles to those spots.

The other movies I have lined up are the same way. Thanks again.

	hey,

i just want to point out when i extracted the .wav from the ntsc .vob, the filesize was 130mb or so, is this normal?

now I tried besweet to convert ntsc 29.970 to pal 25.000 using the preset option, the end result was a .wav file with a longer running time and slow down audio.

I tried audacity and i got lost.

when i load in vdub the video is at 25fps and the audio is at 21.888 fps

Edit: I just read in another post to use the 23.976 to 25fps preset in besweet, will try that and update.

oh my god, it actually worked! yes!! now to cut and edit the clip. Thanks alot guys.

I think I got overly excited in that last post, it didnt quite work right. Strange how when i saved it as mp3 in besweet it shows up as 25fps but if i save it as .wav it goes off.

so i decided to try audacity and the only guide i found on doing the conversion is this
 http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/audacity-guide.html

the method is all the way down in the page and let me tell you im confused, am i supposed to do 29.970 or 23.976?

if I am supposed to do 29..970 what is the answer to that math problem? I dont even get it.
