I have some MJPG Video that I would like to compress into smaller size, yet maintaining good quality. I was reading that H.264 can get a good size/good quality. I DON'T want it e-mail size or DVD size, just reducing the original size by half or whatever so I can watch it on VLC player or something. Basically for archiving on HDD.

What is the source of this MJPEG?Originally Posted by riomarble

If low compressed, you have many choices.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Hi, it's from Digicam. It's about 4 minutes long/330mb. How come I see many clips with the same length but it's like 10x smaller? ex.4minutes/40mb? Perhaps make it a smaller resolution?

The MJPEG is highly compressed inside each frame (JPG) but still exists as separate frames. You can add temporal compression (long GOP) with an MPeg2 or MPeg4 encoder. Since the frames are already heavily compressed, expect quality to drop quickly. Experiment.Originally Posted by riomarbleRecommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
