Hello, I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm hoping someone will offer a brief explanation...
I have some videos at 512x384. DVD-lab only will accept "dvd quality" at 720x480. I can resize to the larger 720x480, but will not gain any quality of picture, and I will lose space. This there a way that I can get these videos burnt onto a DVD while keeping them at their current file size in order to cram as many as possible onto one disc? Please advise.

You can burn them as a "data dvd" but if you want to watch them on a standalone player you will need one which accepts data files.

Both DVDAuthor and DVD-lab PRO are able to author .m*v files with
non-compliant framesizes. Not all hardware-based players will accept
    such discs, though.

  4. You can "cram" videos using programs such as convertxtodvd (trialware) or favc (free). They author, automate the process and even generate simple menus.

DVD Lab Pro will happily accept all valid, compliant resolutions, and can also be told to use non-compliant resolutions if you want to chance it.

Click on Project->Project Properties. On the Accept Movie Sizes drop-down you can select the range of DVD compliant resolutions you wish to include on your project. If you want to use non-DVD compliant resolutions, click on the Advanced tab of the Project Properties screen, and tick the box marked Accept Non-DVD Sizes. You can no use any old crap you want. Be aware that not all players will play non-compliant material once it is authored.

The key question is "do you expect this to play from a standard DVD player?"

If not you can burn a data DVD any resolution size you want, so long as you have a way to play it.

If it does need to play on a standard player, you need to convert to 704(720)x480i, 352x480i or 352x240p at 29.97 fps. Progressive 704(720)x480p @ 23.976 fps is also possible.

DVD players that accept Divx/Xvid may accept a wider range of raster sizes. Each player model needs testing.
