favorites missing....

Can someone help me out my favorites list has disappeared and l dont know how to get the list back on. All my favorites are still in a folder in my documents but l dont know how to get them back onto the favorites list and why they went missing in the first place. l tryed system restore but that did not restore the list. Thanks if you can help me out..

You didn't tell us your OS or the browser you are using.

You can see where they are supposed to be with Windows and IE:

1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Shell Folders
3. Double click on Favorites in the right hand panel

You can also change their location there. You could make sure it's pointed to your favorites folder.

With IE, the favorites are normally in the boot drive>Users>(Your user name)>favorites (At least with Vista) With XP they are in the 'Documents and Setting' folder.

Thanks for the reply redwudz, l'm on windows vista IE. l know where my favorites are all kept in documents(favorites) but they have gone from my drop down list when l get a web page up and would like to put them back onto the main page .

Did you check the registry to see if the pointer was going to your favorites file in Documents? That's the same with Vista. I assume that tells IE where to look. I use IE7 with Vista and I add the menu bar for showing my favorites as I dislike the pop up window IE puts on the screen. I'd rather go back to IE6.

If that's not your problem, maybe go to MS and see if they have a solution: http://support.microsoft.com/
