    Can standard DVD files be burned on a Blue-Ray disk? If so,would they play on standalone Blue-Ray player?

    Yes you can, just burn the video_ts folder . But I doubt they will play on most standalone blu-ray players.

    You can author standard sd material as blu-ray video and it should work on all blu-ray players (that support blu-ray writeable media then). But I don't know what tool to use that doesn't reconvert the video.
