My buddy is almost deaf, and he bought Dexter Season 1 on dvd.
For some reason it comes with no english subtitles, so he can barely hear what they're saying and can't enjoy it.
I don't want to rip the dvd and go through all the effort of putting subtitles in for him.
Is there any program or way you can just pop the disc he bought into his PC and watch it on there, with the SRT external files playing over top?
i'm guessing not but figured it can't hurt to ask

Media Player Classic, File->Open DVD, File->Load Subtitles. You might have to change direct show video output to see the subtitles.

If the disc is a Region 1 disc, then it will have embedded Closed Captions so your buddy can enjoy the series.
